Grounding Gratitude
All my life I’ve heard people say “Be grateful for what you have”, “Count your blessings”. However I never really understood it until recently when I started feeling really anxious, angry, airy and aggravated. Per Ayurveda these are Pitta and Vata qualities and to treat these you need to expose yourself to the opposite qualities of these feelings. So if you’re feeling airy, spaced out, you need to do things that are more grounding in nature. One of the top things you can do to feel instantly grounded is being grateful. Gratitude can instantly shift your focus and soften the sharp qualities of anxiety, anger to more soft emotions like being grounded. When we feel grounded we are more in touch with ourselves and we are able to look inwards. Gratitude also serves as a transition emotion between anger and love. For example, when we are angry at someone its very difficult to switch from anger to love in that moment, but if we shift out focus to gratitude it will always radiate into love. How does one start to bring gratitude in the life?
Below are three ways to begin your gratitude journey so you can be rooted to your soul.
Wake up in the morning and be grateful for one thing in your life. It could be as simple as the sun rising.
Start a daily journal for grateful things/blessings.
End your day with one thing you are grateful for. Again, it could be as simple as the moon rising.
